Position Summary:
This individual is responsible for working with internal and
external customers to identify patients appropriate for admission
to the Behavioral Health Unit. The individual is responsible for
conducting a crisis assessment as identified in the essential job
specific functions. Coordinates utilization management reviews for
all assigned inpatient,follows patients throughout the continuum of
care and ensures optimum utilization of resources, service delivery
and compliance with external review agencies. Obtains
authorizations for services, coordinates peer-to-peer reviews for
assigned caseload. Understands medical necessity criteria and
faciliates accurate and timely documentation to support advocacy of
services. - Coordinates closely with Provider, Nursing, and
Clinical Services.

Job Functions:
Work with sending facilities to assure transportation has been
arranged
Writes appeal letters as needed
Assists in patient throughput from within WVMC when
appropriate.
