POSITION: Educational Assistant - Restorative Practices
LOCATION: Centennial Middle School HOURS: 8 Hours Per Day (8:30 AM
– 5:00 PM) FTE: 1.0 CALENDAR: 193 Days Per Year; August - June
(will be prorated based on start date) SALARY: $20.62 - $28.54 Per
Hour (Range D) BENEFITS: PERS, Medical, Dental, Vision, Optional
Insurances, Paid Leaves, Holiday Pay, etc. START DATE: March 30

PURPOSE STATEMENT(S) The job of Educational Assistant - Restorative
Practices is to assist school staff in implementing restorative
practices and behavior supports that promote a safe, respectful,
and inclusive learning environment for middle school students. This
position works collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and
student support staff to help students develop positive
relationships, repair harm, and build social-emotional skills
necessary for success in school. Employees in this position provide
support through supervision, mentoring, small-group facilitation,
and individualized assistance for students experiencing behavioral,
social, or emotional challenges. The Educational Assistant helps
implement restorative practices such as restorative conversations,
circles, reflection activities, and problem-solving processes that
promote accountability and relationship repair. Methods of
performing tasks are generally guided by established restorative
practices and school procedures, with direction and support
provided by building administrators or certificated staff. Work is
periodically reviewed while in progress and upon completion.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Support the implementation of restorative
practices within the school, including restorative conversations,
circles, and reflection processes. Work with individual students or
small groups to build social-emotional skills, conflict resolution
strategies, and responsible decision-making. Assist staff in
addressing student behavior concerns through restorative and
relationship-centered approaches rather than punitive discipline.
Provide supervision and mentoring for students who need additional
support regulating behavior or re-engaging in learning. Help
students reflect on their actions, repair relationships, and
develop strategies to improve future behavior. Collaborate with
teachers, counselors, and administrators to support students
returning to class after behavioral incidents. Model respectful
communication, empathy, and problem-solving skills for students.
Assist in monitoring common areas such as hallways, lunchrooms, and
transitions to promote a positive and safe school environment.
Maintain documentation related to student support activities as
directed by administration. Support a school climate that
encourages belonging, accountability, and positive relationships .
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS Attend professional development related to
restorative practices, behavior support, and student supervision.
Assist with general clerical tasks related to student support,
including maintaining records and communication logs. Help
facilitate communication between students, teachers, and families
when appropriate. Support school-wide behavior expectations and
initiatives. Perform related duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS –
QUALIFICATIONS Experience Preferred: Prior experience working with
middle school students, youth mentoring, behavior support,
restorative practices, or similar student-centered environments.

Ability to speak a second language is preferred. EDUCATION REQUIRED
Must meet one of the following requirements: Completed two years of
college, OR Hold an associate degree, OR Hold a state or local No
Child Left Behind (NCLB) paraprofessional certification LICENSES,
BONDING, AND/OR TESTING REQUIRED Criminal Justice Fingerprint
Clearance (applicant agrees to assume cost upon offer of
employment). TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT Salary and work year to be
established by the Board. EVALUATION Performance of this position
will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the
Board’s Policy on Evaluation of Support Staff Personnel. The
Educational Assistant reports to the building Principal or
designee.
